Oops! I've Lost my Library Book...
- Should your student receive a reminder, it is NOT a bill.
- We would much rather have the book back than have to replace it.
- Before paying for a lost book, please help your student look everywhere - the classroom, the car, under the bed and in closets!
- We'd really like the book back, please look everywhere before you pay for it, we cannot take replacement books from the bookstore - they are not bound for library use and would fall apart after four or five checkouts.
Kindergarten and First grade students love to trade their books in each week for a new book and are very sad when they have forgotten their book. Please help your student learn responsibility by keeping their book in a safe place at home and helping them remember to return books on their library day. To be fair to all students wishing to borrow that book, students do have to return or pay for that book before they may get another book.
Second Graders may have two books out at anytime. I suggest to them they get one chapter book to take their time with and one picture book to return weekly.
Third through Fifth grade students use the library as adults do - they come in whenever they'd like. They can get longer books and take their time, and they can come in for a new book as soon as they need one. They may have three books out anytime. We are open before school and during breakfast almost everyday 8:20-9. There are times during the school day when their teachers will let them come with a pass. We are also here at the end of the day 3:15-3:45 but if students are bus riders, they should be careful not to miss the bus!
