A note on reading group "letter"s: students shouldn't worry about their reading level too much when reading for pleasure or for the 40 book challenge. The levels  are guidance so that a book is not too hard. We don't want frustrated readers. If a student is really interested in the subject, "too hard" might not be "too hard." Similarly, if the topic is interesting, no book is "too easy."  Adults read for entertainment below their reading level all the time! Students should be free to pick a book at any level and be free to put it down and get a different one if they find it too boring or too hard. Give it two chapters, it's the author's job to make you want to read a book right from the start! If you don't like it after two chapters stop & pick out something else.
